Fabric Face Mask

I hope that you and your family are keeping healthy, safe, and at home as much as possible during these unsettling times.

Current CDC recommendations suggest that we all should be wearing masks (along with practicing physical distancing) when we go out in public to slow the spread of COVID-19.  Since there is a shortage of PPE and the commercial masks available are being dedicated for the use by those providing medical care, we need to make our own out of fabric.  These masks are NOT intended to be a replacement for the N95 masks.

I've been making some fabric masks for family, friends, my community, and the Anchorage Fire Department.  My design is a modification of several designs that can be found on-line.  It uses 1/4" elastic, but you can easily use fabric ties if elastic isn't available.  I've also used new shoe laces when I ran out of elastic, and they worked well.
